EPA Strategic Goal: By characterizing past, present and future streamflows and risk toward extreme events in coastal watersheds that lead to the Gulf of Mexico (GoM), this project will advance knowledge of how to protect and sustain coastal watersheds and surrounding lands (EPA Strategic Goal 2: Protecting America’s Waters), while also helping local and government stakeholders to assess risk associated with extreme events to develop emergency preparedness plans for better resiliency after such a natural disaster (EPA Strategic Goal 3: Cleaning Up Communities and Advancing Sustainable Development).
Project Description: This project aims to characterize past, present and future streamflow and extreme events along Alabama coastal watersheds leading to the GoM, and will utilize results to develop comprehensive risk assessment toward timing of extreme events in GoM watersheds.
